Metro Saves 4 … Con't

By President Osmond Gankee

Disasters are happening right & left, come August we are expecting more typhoons, more floods, & some speculate that an earthquake might lie in store for our seemingly helpless nation,& let us not forget to mention the plight of our fellowmen in war-torn Mindanao.
What do we need to do? Preparation is the key.  I would like to thank all the companies, members & friends that have supported Metro Araneta for our upcoming relief mission.  But when I think about it, is it enough?  If consensus & our sponsors would allow it, I am would like to channel our solicitations to projects for this cause.
I would also like to propose for all District 3780 clubs to unite for one district relief project, if not medical missions, more aid could be given, if we all pull together.  A lot of people are counting on assistance, let us not fail them, Now is the time for unity, cooperation & oneness, to give a glimmer of hope for the hopeless & help towards the needy in this time of crisis.

Metro Araneta Saves 4

July 10-- Brgy. Lupang Pangako, Payatas, Quezon City, Continuous rains owing to the two typoons "Ditang" & "Edeng", that hit the country last July 4 onwards, the Payatas Dumpsite which holds an estimated 180 to 200 feet of Metro Manila's garbage fell on more that 500 families residing in shanties at the low lying area of the said dumpsite at 7:30 AM.
Upon receiving an emergency radio message of a fire at the said area, CP Johnny Yu mobilizes the RCMA Emergency Reaction Unit to proceed to the site.
Upon reaching the site, it was apparent that approximately one hectare of houses were buried by

tons of solid filled waste. Upon informing the Office of Civil Defense of the eminent disaster, the RCMA requested for the immediate assistance from its sister club, the Tactical Emergency Assistance & Monitoring Network, Inc. (TEAM).
A  Mass Casualty incident Command Post was set up and proceeded to the search & rescue operation together with the AFP and DOH who were the only ones present on the scene at that time.

During the first day, the RCMA-TEAM field men were able to extricate 15 bodies & saved 4 persons trapped among  debris. The next  day an additional
